The Asia Energy Transition Summit 2024 brought together climate leaders, policymakers, and experts from across the region to address pressing environmental challenges. Saqib Sajjad highlighted the role of energy efficiency in improving industrial processes through AI-based applications. Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, emphasized the government’s commitment to renewable energy, underlining the need for upgrading Pakistan's transmission system, standardizing tariffs, and ensuring equitable energy access.
Keynote speaker Haysam Azhar, an Analyst at the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), stressed the importance of unifying energy projects in Pakistan under one framework. He also called for reforms in international lending practices to make it easier for developing nations like Pakistan to secure financial support for their energy transitions.
Dr. Nafisa Shah, Co-convener of the Parliamentary Forum on Energy and Economy, advocated for a just energy transition in Pakistan, ensuring that the benefits of cleaner energy reach all segments of society.
The summit emphasized the importance of collaboration with countries across Asia in addressing Pakistan’s climate challenges.
